Story Bellows

New York, NY

Story Bellows, one of the nation’s top civic innovators, has joined urban advisory services firm CityFi as a full-time principal. Bellows, who most recently led the Brooklyn Library’s innovation efforts as its Chief Innovation and Performance Officer, brings industry-leading expertise on civic engagement, government procurement, and public-private coalition building.

Bellows is one of the country’s leading voices on the role of the government in promoting social entrepreneurship, and was tapped to launch the Mayor’s Office of New Urban Mechanics in Philadelphia, where she developed new mechanisms for entrepreneurs to engage creatively with the city to tackle shared challenges together. She has also served as Director of the Mayors’ Institute on City Design, a National Endowment for the Arts leadership initiative that afforded Story the opportunity to work with more than 200 mayors from across the country, and spent four years in private design practice in Chicago.

She will be based in New York City, strengthening CityFi’s  presence in the northeast, as well as working nationally and internationally. Bellows is originally from Chicago. She holds a BA from Colgate University in Environmental Geography, and an MSc from the London School of Economics in City Design and Social Science.
