Singapore Car-Lite City

Gabe Klein of Cityfi was featured as the keynote speaker for “Creating Liveable Cities Through Car-lite Urban Mobility”, a joint project between the Centre for Liveable Cities (CLC) and the Urban Land Institute (ULI) that aimed to explore and create dialogue around a more sustainable urban environment defined by car-lite urban mobility that facilitates a higher quality of life for all.

Method

Gabe Klein was featured as the keynote speaker for one of the project workshops, “Strategies on Creating Car-lite Cities — A Practitioner’s Guide to Driving Positive Changes in Cities’ Mobility Ecosystem Quickly and Effectively”, which revolved around identifying key priority areas and quick-wins for the Jurong Lake District to implement car-lite projects in its overall redevelopment as Singapore’s second central business district.

Gabe also contributed to a set of 10 recommendations that serve as practical advice to Singapore and other cities wishing to embrace a car-lite mobility future. The recommendations were designed to be a useful checklist for both what needed to be done to usher in a paradigm shift (i.e. specific strategies and initiatives), as well as how to get these things done (i.e. the approach and mind-set required to get things done quickly and effectively).
